Updating DNS at Cloudflare to point to Rocket
| Before starting DNS changes, please make sure that you have followed our Quick Start Guide to set up your website and/or migrate it from your previous host. |
It’s possible to use a free account at Cloudflare to manage your domain’s DNS even if you have not registered your domain there. This article will help you point your domain from Cloudflare to Rocket.net.
- Login to https://control.rocket.net
- Click Manage on the site you would like to update
- Next, click Get Started next to the Ready to Go Live Section
- Enter the domain you wish to use for your site
| You can choose to set up your domain with either www or non-www, depending on your SEO and preferences. |
The CNAME record that you get on this process is THE SAME as one of the TXT you will get on the next step. if you set this up, you don't need to set the TXT on Step 2.
Once done, you will be given the DNS records to point your domain to in Cloudflare, starting with our TXT records, used to generate the SSL.
The records you see here are PLACEHOLDERS and will be different for each website, please refer to your own dashboard to copy the actual records you need.
- Login to your Cloudflare Account
- Click the Domain you wish to change DNS for
- Next, Click DNS:
- Next, create the two TXT records required for your SSL certificate as shown in Step 2 of Ready to Go Live:
- Once these records are created, you'll want to navigate back to your site at https://control.rocket.net and confirm they've been created. After those records are confirmed, you're ready to point the DNS of the website to Rocket.
It might be necessary to wait for propagation of these records before the dashboard verifies the TXT records. - Now, create the records shown in Step 3 of Ready to Go Live to point your domain to Rocket.
IMPORTANT: Do not enable proxying on these records. You will want them to be DNS ONLY ("gray clouded") so they do not go through Cloudfare's proxy. Proxying is done by Rocket.net.
The records you see here are PLACEHOLDERS and will be different for each website, please refer to your own dashboard to copy the actual records you need.
